Bayern Munich have opened talks with Harry Kane over a possible contract extension, sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed.

The England captain joined the German champions from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 on a four-year deal worth an initial €100m (£86.4m) and has since been in sensational form.

Kane has scored 119 goals and registered 30 assists in 126 appearances across all competitions for Bayern. Speaking at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt on Tuesday, Eberl told BBC Sport: “We’re talking to Harry. Everyone knows that at some point a decision has to be made.”

In October, Kane said he could “definitely” see himself staying at Bayern, adding that his desire to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit”.

The 31-year-old has scored 34 goals in 30 matches this season under Vincent Kompany, including 21 in 19 Bundesliga games, as he chases Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single league campaign. He has also helped Bayern secure second place in their Champions League group with one match remaining.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said Kane is settled in Germany. “Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich. He and his family are settled here, so there’s absolutely no reason to rush,” he said.
