The government of Burkina Faso has announced the removal of visa fees for citizens of all African countries, in a move aimed at strengthening Pan-African solidarity and promoting the free movement of people and goods across the continent.
Officials in Ouagadougou said the policy underscores Burkina Faso’s commitment to deepening regional integration and fostering stronger economic, cultural, and social ties among African nations. The government stressed that easing travel restrictions is critical to boosting trade, tourism, and cooperation within Africa.
The decision has been welcomed by regional observers as a bold step toward advancing the vision of a borderless Africa. It aligns with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which seeks to create a unified market for goods and services and enhance intra-African mobility.
