Nigeria and China have strengthened their collaboration in rail technology after the successful conclusion of a 15-day intensive training programme for Nigerian professionals. Organized by China Railway Signal and Communication International Co. Ltd. (CRSC), the programme involved participants from the Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUT Daura), the Federal Ministry of Transportation, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
The training offered hands-on experience in China’s advanced rail systems, covering signalling, control technologies, and practical site visits in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou. FUT Daura Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, described it as “comprehensive and transformative,” highlighting its role in building local expertise for Nigeria’s rail sector.
Under a broader 2025 agreement, CRSC and FUT Daura plan to establish a Joint Intelligent Control Research Centre in Nigeria by 2026, equipped with modern laboratory facilities to support ongoing rail projects like the Abuja–Kaduna Railway upgrade. CRSC emphasized ongoing technical support, signaling a long-term commitment to Nigeria’s rail modernisation. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
