Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State highlighted the state’s agribusiness potential at the Africa Investment Forum Market Days 2025, held from November 26–28 in Rabat, Morocco. The forum attracted global investors and policymakers exploring opportunities across Africa.

Speaking at the event, Lawal emphasized Zamfara’s comparative advantage in agriculture, pitching the state as a prime destination for investment in large-scale farming and agribusiness initiatives.

On the sidelines of the summit, Zamfara signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoFI). The agreement is designed to accelerate agricultural transformation in the state, combining government support, investor financing, and modern agribusiness practices.

Under the MoU:

Zamfara will provide land, infrastructure, security, and enabling policies for investors.

MoFI will coordinate financing, project development, and investor engagement.

Initiatives will focus on mechanized farming, agro-processing, post-harvest systems, and access to global markets.

Governor Lawal stated that the partnership aims to create jobs, boost food security, strengthen value chains, and promote inclusive economic growth in the state and the wider North-West region.

Agricultural experts say this move could transform Zamfara from subsistence farming to a modern agribusiness hub, attracting both local and foreign investors and boosting the state’s economy.

As Zamfara positions itself on the global agricultural map, the key question remains: Can these initiatives fully unlock the state’s vast agribusiness potential? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
