Beijing announced on Tuesday that it had lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization to safeguard its “legitimate rights and interests” in response to increased U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods.

“China has initiated a case against the U.S. tariff measures under the WTO dispute settlement mechanism,” the commerce ministry stated, condemning the U.S. actions as “malicious.”
