Chowdeck Surpasses One Million Monthly Orders, Cementing Its Lead in Nigeria’s Delivery Market

Nigerian food and essentials delivery startup Chowdeck has hit a major milestone, surpassing one million customer orders in a single month. The achievement underscores the platform’s rapid growth and dominance in Nigeria’s increasingly competitive quick-commerce and delivery landscape.

According to company data, Chowdeck’s daily order volume has surged from around 30,000 to over 40,000 orders in recent weeks. The platform now serves more than 1.5 million active users and operates with a fleet of over 20,000 riders across 11 cities in Nigeria and Ghana.

Backed by Y Combinator, Chowdeck recently raised $9 million in Series A funding, aimed at deepening its presence in West Africa and expanding its logistics and merchant-support infrastructure. Earlier this year, the company also acquired Mira, a restaurant point-of-sale and management startup, to integrate payments, inventory tracking, and merchant financing tools into its growing ecosystem.

“Hitting one million monthly orders is both humbling and energizing for our team,” said Chowdeck CEO Femi Aluko in a statement. “It reflects the trust our customers and restaurant partners have placed in us, even as we continue to improve speed, reliability, and service quality.”

Chowdeck’s milestone comes at a pivotal time for the Nigerian delivery market, which has seen the exit of major international players such as Jumia Food and Bolt Food due to profitability challenges. Chowdeck’s homegrown model, which tightly integrates logistics, merchant services, and user engagement, appears to be filling that void successfully.

Still, the company acknowledges that rapid growth brings operational strain. In recent updates, Aluko noted that Chowdeck is investing heavily in rider support, customer experience, and technology upgrades to handle the surging demand sustainably.

Industry observers see Chowdeck’s success as a sign of the resilience of Nigeria’s startup ecosystem where local innovators continue to thrive despite economic headwinds, infrastructure challenges, and intense competition.

With over one million monthly orders now in its books, Chowdeck is positioning itself not just as a delivery app, but as a comprehensive commerce platform connecting restaurants, riders, and customers across West Africa. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
