Former Minister of State for Education and two‑time member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Nigerian presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The announcement, made as political activity ahead of the 2027 polls gains momentum, marks Nwajiuba’s re‑entry into national politics with ambitions to lead the country from the nation’s highest office.
In a statement released by his office, Nwajiuba said Nigeria’s current challenges require leadership grounded in sound policies, effective negotiation skills, and a strong grassroots political structure rather than mere rhetoric. He highlighted his extensive experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government—along with his legal and public finance background—as key qualifications for addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
The former minister is expected to centre his campaign on education reform, economic stabilisation, and rebuilding public trust in governance institutions. His entry into the race under the ADC banner adds a fresh dimension to the evolving 2027 presidential contest, particularly as smaller parties position themselves as alternative leadership options to Nigerians.
