A Colorado man who used social media platforms to target and exploit minors across the United States and abroad has been sentenced to 84 years in federal prison.

Austin Ryan Lauless, 31, received the lengthy sentence after pleading guilty to multiple federal offences connected to the online exploitation and trafficking of children. Prosecutors said Lauless created a fake teenage identity to lure young victims, whom he later blackmailed into abusive and criminal acts.

According to authorities, at least 84 victims have been identified so far, all of whom were minors at the time of the offences. The victims were spread across nearly every state in the U.S., as well as five other countries, highlighting the global scale of the crimes.

Investigators revealed that Lauless used manipulation, threats and coercion to maintain control over his victims, exploiting their vulnerability through digital platforms. Prosecutors described the case as one of the most extensive online child exploitation schemes uncovered in recent years.

Law enforcement officials said the sentence reflects the severity of the crimes and sends a strong message about the consequences of exploiting minors online.
