Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan has officially taken over as the head of the Kaduna Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, following the handover by Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Ahmed Tijjani Abe, on 12 September 2025. The transition was announced by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Ridwan Yusuf.
During his tenure, ACG Abe achieved remarkable revenue growth, with the Kaduna Command collecting ₦30,090,207,200.36 between January and August 2025, marking a 61.89% increase over the ₦18,586,458,498.36 recorded during the same period in 2024. The ₦11.5 billion additional revenue was credited to intensified anti-smuggling operations, improved trade facilitation, stronger stakeholder engagement, and enhanced collaboration with security agencies for intelligence sharing and joint operations. Abe also emphasized staff welfare and capacity building through regular training programs.
Comptroller Hassan commended his predecessor’s achievements and pledged to build on the gains. He assured that revenue growth would be sustained, anti-smuggling efforts intensified, and trade facilitation strengthened in line with the Service’s mandate and the federal government’s economic diversification agenda.
The new Comptroller further called on importers, clearing agents, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with the Kaduna Command. He emphasized that continued collaboration is essential to maintaining progress, ensuring efficient customs operations, and contributing effectively to national development.
