The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has dismissed a bail application filed by Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, challenging his detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a ruling delivered on Thursday, the presiding judge, Babangida Hassan, held that Malami’s detention was lawful and supported by a valid court order.

The court consequently upheld the EFCC’s remand order, affirming that the anti-graft agency acted within the bounds of the law in keeping the former minister in custody.

Malami had approached the court seeking bail, arguing against his continued detention by the EFCC. However, the court found no merit in the application and ruled in favour of the commission.
