A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the no-case submission plea filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, ruling that he must continue to face trial on terrorism-related charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
In the same sitting, the court also rejected Kanu’s request to be transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja, where his legal team had argued he should receive medical treatment. The judge ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) remains responsible for ensuring the IPOB leader’s medical needs are met while in custody.
The decision represents a major setback for Kanu, who has been pushing for dismissal of the charges and improved access to medical care. His trial is now set to continue, with prosecutors expected to call further witnesses in the coming sessions.
