The Acting Governor of Cross River State, Peter Odey, has disassociated himself from a statement allegedly issued by the Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum, which opposed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and impose a state of emergency.

In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Fred Abua, Odey clarified that he was neither consulted nor asked for his opinion before the statement was released.

“The position of the forum does not reflect the views of the Cross River State Government, which fully aligns with Mr. President’s decision, taken in the best interest of national security, peace, and stability,” Odey stated.

He emphasized that every responsible government must prioritize the protection of lives and property, adding, “Where circumstances necessitate decisive action, such measures should be supported for the greater good of our democracy and national unity.”

Reaffirming his commitment to constitutional governance, Odey assured that Cross River State would continue to work with the Federal Government to ensure peace, security, and stability across the country.
