This The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in collaboration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and other security agencies, has intercepted 16 containers loaded with illicit pharmaceutical products valued at over N20.5 billion.
The major bust took place at the Onne Port and comes just weeks after Customs and NAFDAC signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding to enhance regulatory enforcement.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, who announced the seizure at a press briefing over the weekend, attributed the success to intelligence-led operations and effective inter-agency cooperation.
“Our anti-smuggling operations align with national priorities on border security, public health, and national safety. We remain committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s borders are not exploited by criminal elements,” Adeniyi stated.
The seizure is regarded as a significant victory in the fight against the trafficking of illegal and harmful drugs into the country.
