The CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has commended the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation-Americas (NiDOA) for their continued efforts in advancing the interests of Nigerians living abroad.

In a virtual address during NiDOA’s 2024 Annual General Meeting and World Conference held in the United States, Ms. Dabiri-Erewa applauded the leadership of NiDOA for fostering unity among Nigerians in the diaspora.

She highlighted the importance of establishing a diaspora board, noting that its constitution, along with other statutory boards, falls under the purview of President Bola Tinubu. She added that former President Muhammadu Buhari left several boards unconstituted, including NiDCOM’s, but expressed optimism about President Tinubu addressing the matter in due time.

Lot Egopija, Nigeria’s consul general in New York, also congratulated NiDOA for hosting the AGM, emphasizing its role in showcasing the organization’s activities. “The consulate is ready to support NiDOA in setting standards for other countries and regions,” he said.

The conference underscored the significant role Nigerians in the diaspora play in national development and the importance of collaboration for mutual progress.
