Dangote Group Mourns Phyna’s Sister, Says Plans Were Underway for Treatment Abroad Before Her Death

Dangote Group has expressed sadness over the death of Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, who passed away on Sunday after being involved in a tragic accident with a Dangote Cement truck in Auchi, Edo State. The incident, which left her critically injured and led to the amputation of her legs, ultimately claimed her life despite ongoing medical efforts.

In a statement released on its official X account, the company extended condolences to the Otabor family, stressing that it had been providing financial and medical support since the accident. Dangote Group stated that arrangements were already in place to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment, but the move was pending final medical clearance from her doctors before her untimely death.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State. Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have been by her side, covering all financial and medical costs and supporting her family. Arrangements had been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance,” the company said in its condolence message.
