Dangote Refinery Pledges Uninterrupted Fuel Supply With Daily Output Exceeding National Demand

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a steady and uninterrupted supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel across Nigeria.

According to the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery is currently loading over 45 million litres of PMS and 25 million litres of diesel daily, a quantity that surpasses the country’s national demand.

Chiejina noted that the refinery’s increased local production has contributed to stabilising the naira and reducing foreign exchange outflows by strengthening domestic supply chains.

He also explained that the recently announced 15 percent import duty on petrol and diesel is designed to protect Nigeria’s domestic refining industry, promote local production, and discourage the importation of cheap petroleum products. He maintained that criticisms of the tariff were misplaced, given Nigeria’s strengthened supply capacity.

Meanwhile, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) assured that there is no cause for concern over possible fuel price hikes, noting that domestic refining capacity is now sufficient to meet national demand.

The development highlights the refinery’s key role in advancing the Tinubu administration’s downstream reforms aimed at achieving energy security, industrial growth, and reduced reliance on imported fuels.
