In a move to ease transportation costs and provide relief to Nigerians during the festive season, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a price reduction for its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) product to N899.50 per litre. The announcement, made by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, marks a further reduction from the N970 per litre price set on November 24.
The refinery, Africa’s first privately-owned oil facility, also unveiled a special holiday offer allowing consumers to purchase an additional litre of petrol on credit for every litre bought with cash. The credit facility will be backed by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank, making it easier for Nigerians to manage transportation costs during the holidays.
“To alleviate transport costs during this holiday season, Dangote Refinery is offering a holiday discount on PMS. From today, our petrol will be available at N899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or SPM,” said Chiejina.
The refinery expressed its gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support and reiterated its commitment to providing competitively priced, high-quality petroleum products. Chiejina emphasized that the refinery’s operations aim to eliminate the country’s dependence on substandard and blended imported fuels, which have historically posed risks to health, machinery, and the environment.
The Dangote Refinery, with a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, is the world’s largest single-train refinery. It has the capability to meet 100% of Nigeria’s refined petroleum product needs, with additional capacity for export.
This price reduction is expected to bring some respite to consumers who have been grappling with the rising cost of living, especially in the transportation sector. As the holiday season approaches, this move by Dangote Petroleum Refinery reflects a commitment to supporting Nigerians during a crucial time of the year.
