Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has described the loss of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, in 2022 as a defining moment that reshaped his life and career. Ifeanyi tragically drowned in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island residence in Lagos in October that year.

Speaking in an interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, Davido said he was proud of how he and his wife, Chioma, navigated the tragedy and found the strength to rebuild their lives. He revealed that the painful experience shifted his priorities and gave him a renewed sense of purpose.

The Unavailable crooner noted that their resilience has inspired many, sharing that strangers often approach him to commend his strength. “For us to go through that and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge,” he said, adding that the arrival of their twins has brought joy back into their home.
