Deadly Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv as Ukraine and US Rework Peace Proposal

Share

Russian drone and missile attacks struck Kyiv overnight, killing at least two people and injuring several others, as Ukraine and the United States continued negotiations in Geneva to revise Washington’s proposed 28-point peace plan. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported severe damage to residential buildings in the Pecherskyi and Dniprovskyi districts, with 18 people rescued, including three children. Additional strikes hours later wounded a 14-year-old in Brovarsky, Bila Tserkva and Vyshgorod districts.

The renewed assault came just as Ukrainian and American officials sought to reshape the controversial peace framework, which Kyiv and European allies previously criticised as overly aligned with Moscow’s interests. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Geneva talks had successfully reduced the number of disputed points and incorporated more acceptable measures, though several sensitive issues remain unresolved ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Zelenskyy reaffirmed that Ukraine remains committed to achieving a just peace, insisting the country will never stand in the way of any credible path to ending the conflict. With negotiations intensifying and Russia escalating attacks, will the revised plan bring Ukraine any closer to a dignified and lasting peace? Visit www.jocomms.com for more news
