Rights activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju has ridiculed former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, after receiving a letter from the ex-governor’s lawyers demanding a retraction of alleged defamatory remarks.

In the demand notice issued by Ejesimen & Co. Madiba Chambers, Obi’s legal team accused Adeyanju of repeatedly making derogatory statements against their client on social media, citing posts in which the activist alleged that Obi once attempted to buy his loyalty and invested state funds in companies linked to his family.

Responding via his social media handles, Adeyanju dismissed Obi’s threat as laughable, insisting he is ready for a legal battle. He accused Obi of hypocrisy, recalling that the former governor once described activist Omoyele Sowore as a “blackmailer-in-chief.” Adeyanju further revealed that his legal team had also served a similar notice to Serah Ibrahim, a female supporter of Obi, over alleged defamatory posts against his wife.
