Diaspora Nigerians Demand Urgent Fix to NIN and Passport Challenges

Share

Nigerians living in the Diaspora are calling on the Federal Government to urgently address the ongoing challenges associated with obtaining National Identification Numbers (NIN) and renewing Nigerian passports abroad. Many citizens say the delays, limited enrollment centres, high processing costs, and inconsistent appointment systems are causing significant hardship for families, businesses, and students.

According to various Diaspora groups, the difficulties have led to missed travel deadlines, disrupted academic schedules, and complications with legal documentation in host countries. They stressed that despite repeated complaints, the issues have persisted, leaving many stranded or unable to verify their identity when required.

The groups are urging the government to increase capacity at foreign missions, expand NIN enrollment centres, introduce efficient online systems, and collaborate with credible service providers to ease the process. As frustrations mount, they insist that timely reforms are critical to restoring confidence among millions of Nigerians abroad.
