Foreign diplomats have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his proactive measures to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges. The praise came from the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN‑WCD) and the International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA) during a press briefing in Abuja, where they presented a report on the ongoing fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
The report, presented by UN‑WCD Secretary‑General Amb. Prof. Tunji John Asaolu, highlighted President Tinubu’s “uncommon political will” in confronting insurgency and improving security across the country. It also noted effective collaboration with the United States military, describing recent joint operations in the North West as “precise, disciplined, and effective” with no civilian casualties.
While praising the successes in weakening insurgent strongholds, the diplomats cautioned that terrorism has not been fully eradicated. They cited incidents such as the recent bandit attack in Kasuwan‑Daji, Niger State as evidence that Nigeria’s security system still faces challenges.
The report also stressed the importance of removing internal obstacles that could hinder security gains and called for continued strengthening of the nation’s defence and security architecture to ensure lasting peace and stability.
