Donald Trump Unveils Cryptocurrency Business Amid Re-Election Campaign

On Monday, former President Donald Trump announced the launch of a new cryptocurrency business, World Liberty Financial, during a live event on X Spaces. However, few details were provided about the venture, including its structure, financing, or services. The announcement is unusual given its proximity to the upcoming U.S. presidential election, where Trump is seeking re-election on November 5.

During the discussion, Trump, once a vocal critic of cryptocurrencies, mentioned his recent shift to embracing digital assets, promising to turn the U.S. into the “crypto capital of the planet” with minimal regulation and a national bitcoin stockpile. Despite this newfound enthusiasm, neither Trump nor his family elaborated much on the specifics of the project.

Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., have been promoting the initiative in recent weeks, claiming it will “transform” the digital finance landscape but provided no further insight into the plan. The announcement comes as Trump aims to attract support from digital asset advocates in the run-up to Election Day.

Trump also touched on a second reported assassination attempt against him over the weekend but did not delve deeply into the matter during the event.
