Dr. Fubes Ade Danor, the Executive Director of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation (WSDGsO) for West Africa, has described Dr. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General, as a formidable force for change.
Danor made this known in his congratulatory message on the occasion of Tinubu-Ojo’s birthday.
“In these times where environmental challenges and socio-economic disparities persist, Dr. Tinubu-Ojo has emerged as a formidable force for change,” he said. “Her passion for fostering growth and sustainable practices within the community is evident in her extensive work and engagement with various stakeholders. She has diligently worked with women traders to enhance their livelihoods through training, access to finance, and technology.”
Danor added that the Iyaloja-General, who also serves as the Africa Continental Grand Matron of the WSDGsO, “is not only a celebrated leader but also a beacon of resilience and determination for women across the continent.”
“As the Iyaloja-General, she plays a pivotal role in championing trade and commerce initiatives that uplift local economies and empower women traders in West Africa. Her dedication to sustainable development aligns seamlessly with the objectives of the WSDGsO, which aims to advocate for sustainability and a better quality of life for all,” he said.
Her vision and dedication, he noted, have significantly contributed to the advancement of key global goals, including gender equality (SDG 5), economic growth (SDG 8), and reduced inequalities (SDG 10).
Danor emphasized that “the intersection of these goals signifies the importance of equitable access and opportunities for all people, regardless of their socio-economic status.”
“For instance, the United Nations (2015) emphasises that promoting gender equality and empowering women is not only critical for achieving the SDGs but serves as a catalyst for broader development,” he added. “Understanding this, Dr. Tinubu-Ojo’s initiatives reflect a strategic approach towards balancing power dynamics in marketplaces and communities, ensuring that women’s voices are heard and valued.”
