The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected key arms manufacturer and supplier, Musa Abubakar, believed to be linked to violent armed groups operating in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.

Abubakar was apprehended on 12 November 2025 following precise intelligence that led DSS operatives to his alleged weapons-production site located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area. According to security sources, the suspect confessed to manufacturing and distributing high-calibre weapons and ammunition to criminal groups responsible for recurring attacks in Plateau and surrounding regions.

Items recovered during the raid include components of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), chemicals, and various equipment reportedly used in arms production. DSS sources confirmed that all recovered materials have been confiscated as part of ongoing investigations.

The arrest comes on the heels of the recent recapture of notorious terrorist commander Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, who was linked to the Owo church attack and the 2012 Deeper Life Church massacre. Security observers say the successes underscore the DSS’s intensified efforts to dismantle terror cells and curb the proliferation of illegal arms across the country.

The development follows earlier DSS operations that led to the arrest of nine high-profile suspects involved in attacks across Plateau and Benue States, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol of Mangu LGA, who has already pleaded guilty to charges related to illegal possession of firearms.
