The Department of State Services (DSS) has given activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore a one-week ultimatum over a recent social media post concerning President Bola Tinubu. The security agency, in a strongly worded statement, warned that Sowore’s remarks were capable of undermining public order and posed a threat to national security.

The DSS stressed that if Sowore fails to comply with its directive within the stipulated timeframe, it will be left with no choice but to “explore all lawful means” to ensure the protection of the country’s stability. The agency did not disclose the specific nature of the post but maintained that such comments could incite unrest if left unchecked.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate and vocal critic of successive Nigerian governments, has often clashed with security agencies over his activism and public statements. This latest ultimatum adds to the tense relationship between the outspoken campaigner and state authorities, drawing renewed attention to the balance between free expression and national security.
