The United States will play the Nigerian team D’Tigress in the women’s basketball quarterfinals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The women’s basketball team coached by Rena Wakama defeated Canada 79-70 in their last group match on Sunday to advance to the Olympics’ round of eight for the first time ever.
The team led Group B and had five classification points after Australia beat France 79-72 in the other group match.
Due to the outcome of the match, D’Tigress was seeded third in the group, behind the French and Australians for the quarterfinals.
On August 7 at 9:30 p.m., Nigeria will play the reigning champion United States. This match will be the second Olympic Games match between the two countries.
D’Tigress lost their initial group match at the Tokyo Olympics to the Americans by a score of nine points.
Also, the teams participated in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, with D’Tigress suffering a crushing defeat against the United States.
Serbia will play Australia, Spain will play Belgium, France and Germany will face off, and there will be other quarterfinal matches.
