The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Livestock Development, has partnered with the Edo State Government to transform the state’s livestock industry.
A joint committee, chaired by Eustace Iyayi, Special Adviser to the Minister on Feed and Fodder Development, has been set up to modernize ranching, abattoirs, and breeding centers in Edo.
The move aims to make Edo a regional hub for red meat, poultry, piggery, and cattle production. The committee will begin with a comprehensive assessment of existing facilities, including old ranches in Igarra and Ubiaja, ahead of planned rehabilitation in 2026.
Edo recently created its own Ministry of Livestock Development, aligning with the federal government’s livestock transformation agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
Officials say the partnership will boost food security, create jobs, and reduce farmer–herder conflicts while upgrading production standards to meet export potential. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
