The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, met on Monday in Abuja with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, and the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Ayo Sotinrin.
The meeting focused on strategic collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in preparation for the 2025 wet season. The initiative targets support for up to 500,000 farmers, aiming to boost agricultural productivity through timely input delivery, enhanced post-harvest handling, and improved market access—strengthening both food security and rural prosperity.
This engagement forms part of the implementation of JICA’s ¥12 billion Food Security Emergency Support programme, designed to reinforce sustainable food systems and build resilience against global supply shocks.
