Fred Chukwuelobe, media aide to former Anambra State governor and ex–Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has debunked circulating rumours that the former minister was kidnapped.
According to Chukwuelobe, who shared an update via Facebook, he received several calls from concerned Nigerians and journalists seeking clarification after reports emerged late Monday suggesting Ngige had been abducted by unknown gunmen.
He clarified that Ngige is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), not kidnapped.
“Ngige is with the EFCC. He was not ‘abducted’ or ‘kidnapped’,” Chukwuelobe stated, adding that more details would be released soon.
This confirmation puts to rest widespread speculation as the public awaits further information on the circumstances surrounding Ngige’s situation.
