
The Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Minister Congratulates Muslims on Ramadan Completion
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and urged them to embrace the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.
He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society, calling on Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to pray for national peace, stability, and prosperity.
Call for Unity and Responsible Celebrations
The minister encouraged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly, urging them to remember the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.
“On behalf of the Federal Government, he extended heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to everyone,” the statement read.

Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan fasting, is a time for prayer, reflection, and community gatherings. The public holidays provide an opportunity for Muslims across Nigeria to celebrate with their families and communities.
