After enduring a 10-day blackout, electricity has been restored in Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Benue states, areas served by the Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) franchise. Power returned at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, sparking jubilation across affected regions, particularly in Jos, the Plateau State capital, where residents celebrated the return of electricity.

The prolonged outage was caused by a fault on the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu states, leaving several northern states in darkness. The blackout severely impacted daily life, with residents expressing frustration over disrupted businesses and strained routines.

The restoration of power brings relief to residents and businesses that had been grappling with significant challenges during the outage, which underscored the critical need for infrastructure resilience within Nigeria’s power sector.
