Ezinne Kalu Joins Wuhan Shengfan Ahead of 2025/26 WCBA Season

D’Tigress star guard, Ezinne Kalu, has signed for Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) side Wuhan Shengfan ahead of the 2025/26 season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The four-time FIBA Women’s AfroBasket champion extends her stay in China after a standout campaign with Zhejiang in 2024/25, where she averaged 21.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game across 33 appearances.

Kalu, 33, was instrumental as Nigeria clinched a record-extending fifth consecutive AfroBasket crown—and their seventh overall—earlier this year in Ivory Coast, a triumph that also secured D’Tigress a spot at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

A globe-trotting career

The Nigerian international has enjoyed a decorated but nomadic career, featuring for several clubs across Europe and beyond. Her résumé includes spells with Landerneau (France), Stars (Germany), Vasas Akademia (Hungary), Roma (Italy), Portuguese sides Olivais and Clube Desportivo Torres Novas, Dynamo Kursk (Russia), and Kayseri (Turkey), before making the move to Zhejiang in 2024.

Her individual accolades include being named MVP at the 2019 AfroBasket in Senegal and earning selection to the Eurobasket.com Italian Serie A1 All-Imports Team in 2024.

Kalu also represented Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, playing a key role in D’Tigress’ historic run to the quarter-finals.

New chapter in China

With Wuhan Shengfan, Kalu will bring her vast experience and proven scoring ability as the club aims to challenge for the WCBA title.
