Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist Dele Farotimi reunited with his family in Lagos on Tuesday after fulfilling bail conditions that kept him detained for 20 days in Ekiti State.
Farotimi is facing multiple trials related to alleged defamation and cyberbullying of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Afe Babalola, stemming from allegations made in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, which criticized the legal luminary.
Dr. Tanko Yunusa, National Coordinator of the Obi-dient Movement, expressed deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to securing Farotimi’s release. He commended the tireless efforts of the legal team, supporters, and activists who worked relentlessly to ensure justice.
“Today, we rejoice as our brother, Dele Farotimi, has finally reunited with his family in Lagos after meeting the bail conditions that kept him away from his loved ones,” Yunusa said in a statement. “His return home is a testament to the unyielding spirit of truth and resilience that defines our movement.”
Yunusa extended thanks to the legal team and advocates who stood firm, adding, “This victory is a testament to the unyielding spirit of truth and fairness that defines our movement. We are inspired by the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi, whose unwavering commitment to the rule of law remains the foundation of the Obi-dient Movement.”
