The Health Services and Environment Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Abuja, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mobihealth, experts in telemedicine, “to strengthen healthcare delivery and address the ‘japa syndrome’ of doctors leaving the country.”

A Sunday statement highlighted that the MoU was signed by the Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ruqayya Wamakko, alongside Dr. Ronke Akande on behalf of the government, while Dr. Funmi Adewara signed for Mobihealth.

It added that the Mandate Secretary noted that the groundbreaking initiative sealed the beginning of a mutual working relationship that started a year ago, dedicated to the betterment of the people on both sides.

She explained that it reflected the vision of the Federal Government’s interventions in healthcare delivery, which targeted accessible, affordable, and quality medical services for residents, especially at the grassroots level.

According to her, telemedicine will enhance doctor–patient relationships, uphold confidentiality, and reduce the risks of patronising quacks while also helping to prevent avoidable deaths.

She commended the resilience and commitment of Mobihealth in aligning with the Secretariat’s mission to deliver efficient, reliable, and people-centred healthcare.

In her remarks, the Founder of Mobihealth, Dr. Funmi Adewara, appreciated the Mandate Secretary, the Permanent Secretary, and the management team for embracing innovation and investing in the future of an evolving medical world.

She pledged that Mobihealth would bring relief to patients, sustain the momentum, and ensure residents enjoy quality healthcare in the comfort of their homes.
