In a move that has caught the attention of government circles, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced the indefinite suspension of the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmad.

The suspension, which took effect immediately, was confirmed by the Minister in a brief statement issued by his office on Tuesday. Although the exact reasons behind the decision were not disclosed, sources within the Ministry suggested that it was related to concerns over the management of the FCDA and issues regarding accountability and transparency in the agency’s operations.

Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmad, who had served as the Executive Secretary of the FCDA for several years, is widely regarded for his work on urban planning and development in the FCT, but his tenure has also been marked by controversy over project delays and budget overruns.

Minister Wike, in his statement, reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the FCDA, an agency tasked with the planning and development of the FCT, functions efficiently and upholds the highest standards of governance.

“The Federal Capital Territory Administration will not tolerate any acts that undermine the progress of the capital, and I have directed that all matters pertaining to the administration of FCDA be reviewed,” Wike said.

It remains unclear how long the suspension will last or whether further disciplinary actions will follow. The development has already sparked debates about the direction of urban planning and governance in the nation’s capital.

Further details are expected to be revealed in the coming days as investigations into the affairs of the FCDA continue.
