Primary school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), have resumed their indefinite strike effective Monday, March 24, 2025, following the non-implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage in their February salaries.

The decision was confirmed in a communique issued after an emergency State Wing Standing Committee (SWSC) meeting in Gwagwalada on March 22. The union criticized the FCT Area Council Chairmen for failing to honor agreements, stating that teachers have been subjected to continued hardship.

Key demands include the immediate payment of wage differentials, implementation of the new minimum wage in March salaries, and the disbursement of six months’ arrears.

FCT NUT Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Mohammed Shafas, expressed disappointment over the broken commitments, urging teachers to remain steadfast while advising parents to keep their children at home until the strike is resolved.
