On Tuesday, Nigeria’s Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, assured citizens that the federal government is fully committed to addressing the nation’s security concerns. During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the ongoing efforts by key government officials to curb insecurity across the country.

“Everybody is working tirelessly. Not the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, not the Minister of Defence, not the Chief of Defence Staff, not the DSS,” said Tunji-Ojo, underscoring the dedication of the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa. He stressed that no official is taking security lightly, with each playing an active role in working to stabilize the nation.

The minister also reported that Nigeria has seen security improvements since President Bola Tinubu took office. He noted that Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been “degraded by troops,” attributing these successes to the current administration’s strong focus on safeguarding lives and property.

Tunji-Ojo reiterated the administration’s stance on prioritizing security, emphasizing, “This security issue is a major issue of national concern, and I will not sit here and refuse to take responsibility for the security of Nigerians on behalf of the President.”
