The Federal Government has reported that 25 million Nigerians have received a ₦25,000 conditional cash transfer as part of relief measures introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. This was disclosed by Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, following the National Economic Council meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The cash transfer, which has reached five million households, aims to alleviate the economic burden resulting from recent subsidy removals and other policy changes. “The direct cash support is part of the administration’s broader commitment to mitigate the economic impact of these reforms on Nigerians,” Edun explained.
Edun also revealed that in the past five days, over ₦3.5 billion has been distributed to 11,000 beneficiaries through a consumer credit scheme. Additionally, more than ₦90 billion has been allocated to half a million Nigerian students under the newly launched student loan initiative.
The cash transfer, consumer credit, and student loan schemes are central to the government’s strategy to support vulnerable populations as the country adjusts to major economic reforms.
