The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has announced that the Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, will kick off a new rural electricity project in November. This initiative is expected to provide power to approximately 17.5 million Nigerians across underserved rural areas.

According to the REA, the project, which will be bankrolled by the World Bank, represents a significant step towards improving energy access in rural communities. It aligns with the government’s broader strategy to ensure that electricity reaches even the most remote parts of the country, fostering economic growth and improving living standards.

With millions of Nigerians still living without access to reliable power, this project aims to bridge the gap in the nation’s electricity supply and contribute to national development. The initiative is expected to create new opportunities for businesses and improve the quality of life in the affected areas.

This effort is part of Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to achieving universal electricity access by 2030, with support from global partners like the World Bank, which has been instrumental in funding critical infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the country’s energy capacity.

Further details on the implementation of the project are expected to be released as November approaches.
