The Federal Government has commenced the disbursement of the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In the first phase, over 9,000 academic and non-academic staff from federal and state-owned tertiary institutions have benefitted from the scheme. The beneficiaries represent about 28 percent of the 33,000 verified applicants drawn from 219 tertiary institutions across the country.
The initiative, coordinated under the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), provides zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million for each qualified staff member. The fund aims to support housing, healthcare, education, mobility, and small business development, thereby improving staff welfare and productivity.
The Ministry of Education assured that the process would be transparent, with quarterly reports, institutional engagement, and a repayment structure designed to ensure the sustainability of the scheme.
The TISSF is part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to strengthening the education sector and improving the welfare of academic and non-academic personnel nationwide.
