The Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has commissioned a Model Veterinary Hospital and a mobile veterinary clinic in Adamawa State. This initiative is part of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) and aims to modernise animal health services while boosting national food security.
Seven model hospitals have been completed, while work is ongoing on 14 more, bringing the total to 21 across participating states. The project is designed to improve disease detection, enhance livestock productivity, and create employment opportunities in the veterinary sector.
The Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, together with traditional leaders, veterinary professionals, and livestock associations, commended the initiative for supporting pastoral communities, increasing livestock productivity, creating jobs, and promoting peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.
