The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has once again extended support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), this time disbursing N150,000 grants to business owners in Enugu State. The directive was announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was in Enugu to commission Nigeria’s largest Ultra-Modern MSME Fashion Hub and launch the 5th Expanded National MSME Clinic.

Speaking at the event on Thursday, Senator Shettima emphasized the administration’s dedication to creating an enabling business environment that offers opportunities for MSMEs to thrive. He revealed that the N150,000 grant, which does not require repayment, is aimed at nurturing small businesses and fostering economic growth across the country.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has mandated a grant of N150,000 each to outstanding MSMEs exhibiting at today’s event,” said Shettima, stressing that MSMEs are key to Nigeria’s economic future.

The Vice President also commissioned the ultra-modern Fashion and Garment Hub for MSMEs, a collaborative project between the Federal Government and the Enugu State Government. The hub, equipped with cutting-edge technology, is expected to create approximately 48,000 jobs and boost fashion manufacturing in the region. Shettima noted that the hub has the potential to produce various fashion items, from military uniforms to corporate wear, meeting global standards.

Shettima also launched the 5th Expanded National MSME Clinic, a federal initiative that brings MSMEs together with regulatory agencies like NAFDAC, CAC, and BOI to provide on-the-spot solutions to business challenges. The clinic has previously been held in Benue, Ogun, Ekiti, and Jigawa States.

Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its unwavering support and commitment to the growth of MSMEs in the state. He said the initiatives align with the state’s economic vision and would revitalize the entrepreneurial spirit of Enugu’s youth.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, and members of the National Assembly, among others, who commended the Tinubu administration’s focus on empowering small businesses and driving economic development.
