The Federal Government has launched the construction of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as part of its ongoing effort to provide affordable housing for Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme.

The flag-off ceremony, held along Airport Road in Uyo, was attended by top government officials, including the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, and representatives of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). Governor Eno formally handed over the land, provided at no cost, to the FHA to facilitate the smooth commencement of the project.

The Managing Director of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, said the estate is part of President Bola Tinubu’s vision to make quality housing accessible and affordable for all Nigerians, especially low and middle income earners. He added that the project would generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs through its construction value chain, thereby stimulating the local economy.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, noted that the Renewed Hope Estates are being developed across several states to tackle the country’s housing deficit. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to timely delivery, transparency, and use of local materials in line with national housing standards.

The Uyo project is expected to feature one, two, and three bedroom semi-detached bungalows at affordable prices, with flexible payment options such as rent-to-own and mortgage schemes.

Governor Eno praised the federal initiative, describing it as a “strategic intervention that aligns with Akwa Ibom’s development agenda” and a welcome boost to housing delivery in the state.

The Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Uyo is one of several similar projects launched nationwide to actualize President Tinubu’s promise of ensuring that every Nigerian has access to decent shelter.
