FG Launches 2026 PTDF Overseas Scholarship for Nigerians

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), has officially opened applications for the 2026 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (OSS). The fully funded scholarship targets Nigerian students seeking Master’s and PhD programmes abroad, aiming to build local capacity in the oil and gas sector and related industries.
The scholarship covers studies in PTDF-partner universities across the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, ensuring alignment with global academic standards and strategic industry needs.

Health insurance
Accommodation and living allowances
Eligibility requirements differ slightly for MSc and PhD applicants:
For MSc applicants:
Minimum Second Class Upper (2.1) degree, or Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant experience
Completed NYSC
Computer literacy
Five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics
Statement of Purpose (max 500 words)
Verified National Identification Number (NIN)
For PhD applicants:
Relevant postgraduate degree
Completed NYSC
Computer literacy
Five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics
Research proposal (up to five pages)
Verified NIN
Supporting documents, including Vice-Chancellor’s letter confirming no other scholarship benefits
The application deadline is February 27, 2026, and interested candidates are advised to submit their applications via the official PTDF portal ahead of the closing date.
The selection process includes initial screening, interviews for top candidates at the state level, and evaluation by a selection committee based on academic merit, relevance of proposed research or study, publications (for PhD candidates), and professional memberships.
