The Federal Government has commenced an agribusiness and entrepreneurship training programme aimed at empowering retirees for post-service livelihoods.
The initiative, implemented through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), seeks to equip retired civil servants with practical skills to engage in profitable agricultural ventures.
According to the ministry, the training will enhance food security, promote self-reliance among retirees, and contribute to economic diversification.
A ministry representative noted that the programme recognises the wealth of experience retirees possess, which can be channelled into agribusiness to boost national productivity.
Participants will be trained in areas such as crop and livestock production, fish farming, and agro-processing, with plans to link successful trainees to financial and cooperative support.
The government described the initiative as part of broader efforts to create inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods through agriculture. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
