The Federal Government has launched its first digital procurement system aimed at addressing persistent drug shortages in tertiary hospitals across Nigeria. The initiative seeks to modernize the supply chain, ensure timely delivery of essential medicines, and improve healthcare service delivery nationwide.

The new system allows hospitals to place orders digitally, track deliveries in real time, and manage inventory efficiently. Officials noted that this approach will enhance transparency, reduce delays, and minimize wastage, ensuring that critical drugs are consistently available for patients.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the digital procurement platform is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure. By leveraging technology, the government aims to improve patient outcomes, optimize resource allocation, and build a more resilient health system under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
