The Federal Government has launched the National Job Centre Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at tackling unemployment by connecting trained Nigerians with available job opportunities. Announced by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, during the Mastercard Foundation Annual Nigeria Partner Convening in Lagos on October 15, 2025, the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on creating inclusive and transformative work opportunities for Nigerians.

The Job Centres will serve as employability hubs, offering digital job matching, career advisory services, and data tracking to empower youth and facilitate their integration into local industries and the global workforce. As part of the initiative, the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) was unveiled to enhance the employability of young Nigerians and ensure a seamless transition from skills acquisition to gainful employment.

Minister Onyejeocha commended the Mastercard Foundation for its partnership through the Young Africa Works strategy, which has provided skills, jobs, and entrepreneurship support nationwide. The National Job Centre Project and LEEP reflect the Federal Government’s broader policy to address unemployment and underemployment, equip Nigerians with essential skills, promote entrepreneurship, and expand economic opportunities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
