The Federal Government has directed the immediate closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges across the North-West, North-East, North-Central, and parts of the South following heightened security concerns in several regions.

The directive was issued through a circular from the Federal Ministry of Education and approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. In the circular, the Director of Senior Secondary Education, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, ordered principals of the affected schools to shut down operations without delay.

The ministry listed all 41 institutions, noting that the measure became necessary in light of recent security incidents targeting schools. Reports of renewed attacks and student abductions in some states have raised widespread concern over the safety of learners.

The government stated that the temporary closure was aimed at preventing any potential breaches and safeguarding students and staff. No date has been given yet for the reopening of the affected schools.
