The Federal Government has pledged to investigate the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe district of Abuja on Sunday.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the incident as a grievous loss to her family, colleagues, the Nigerian media industry, and the nation. In a condolence letter to Arise News Chairman, Nduka Obaigbena, Idris paid tribute to Maduagwu as a “vibrant and dedicated news anchor, consummate lawyer, and a model of professionalism.”

Idris assured that the federal government would conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her tragic death. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and loved ones, praying for strength to bear the painful loss.
